Lin Fei

Lin Fei

Lin Fei (b.1954) was born in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. He is a National Master of Art and Crafts, recipient of the Chinese Technical Skills Award, State Council Special Allowance recipient, Special Master of China Jade Stone Carving, and High-Class Arts Technical Master. In 1972, Lin Fei was the master of Luoyuan Carving Factory. In 1981, he graduated from Xiamen Academy of Arts and Design of Fuzhou University. In 1989, he taught in the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in the sculpture department. From 1981 to 1992, he taught at Xiamen Academy of Arts and Design of Fuzhou University. He is a researcher of China Seal Engraving Institute, Vice-Chairman, Secretary-General, of Fujian Shoushan Stone Industry Association, Chairman of Luoyuan Shoushan Stone Association, Vice-Chairman of Fujian Province Technical Masters Association. He is one of the representative figures of Modern Shoushan stone arts and taught many students, some who also received the title of National Master of Art and Crafts and China Jade Stone Carving. His works have been exhibited and won many awards in international exhibitions. Exhibitions of his works have taken place in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia. The artistic concepts of Lin Fei are wide and profoundHis works show a strong grasp of fundamental theory, contain but are not constrained by traditional subjects, relevant to modern aesthetics yet not overly kitsch, and identified by a combination of carving and sculpting techniques from China and the West. His subject matter includes mythology from China and the West, and from antiquity, which are innovations in Shoushan stone arts.
